Transfer Station Operator

Duties and Responsibilities

 Responsible for operating solid waste and recycling heavy equipment in compliance with established
guidelines and procedures.
 Position performs duties that include identifying, pushing, and packing trash and construction debris;
identifying and removing items not allowed to be disposed of at transfer station; moving trailers;
identifying, loading, and ensuring that all recyclables are property transferred.
 Cleaning chutes and facilities daily; removing litter from site and assisting the public.
 Completing other duties as assigned.
 Responsible for operating all equipment in a safe and effective manner in order to minimize the risk of
injury, property damage or loss of life.
 Performs any daily safety equipment checks.
 Reports directly to Transfer Station Supervisor
ENVIRONMENTAL: Outside 95% Inside 5%

Desirable Training and Experience

Preferred experience in operating heavy equipment.
Certification from the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) or will be required to obtain such
certification during employment.
