Soil and Water Conservation

The McDowell County Soil and Water Conservation District is a local subdivision of State government responsible for conserving soil, water and related natural resources within the district.

The McDowell District consists of a Board of Supervisors both with elected and appointed positions that establish policy, an Office Administrator who promotes conservation measures in schools and in the general public, a District Technician who promotes conservation measures by providing assistance to landowners with their natural resources and representatives from the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), an agency of the US Department of Agriculture which provides technical assistance.

 

The District’s goal is to continue to conserve the County’s natural resources.
