The Finance Department includes seven employees who provide a wide range of services including accounts payable, accounts receivable, EMS billing, Nebo water billing, fixed assets, purchasing, and budget maintenance. Additionally, the Finance Department provides assistance to an independent auditor during the required annual audit of the County’s finances.
Overseeing and managing the financial functions for all McDowell County departments is the main priority for the Finance Department. Another responsibility is implementation of a cash management policy which is designed to assure that all funds are handled legally and securely. The cash management policy also sets specific guidelines for investing available funds to secure the maximum safe returns available.
