Position Objectives

This is a 10 – 20 hours per week position.
The facility is open Saturday 8:00 am – 4:00 pm; and Sunday is cleaning and feeding only.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Animal Shelter Attendant assists the Shelter Manager in the daily operations of the facility.  The
person in this position will follow strict cleaning and sanitation standards, handling of Animals will be
required also.  Some lifting required mostly animal being placed in kennels.  Weights could range 5-75
pounds.  During daily operations, the Attendant will need to wear gloves, protective clothing and use
bleach and other types of cleaning/sanitizing chemicals.  Attendant must be able to complete their work
among strong odors at times.  There will be record keeping, answering telephone & greeting the public,
some handling of money and the use of basic office machines.  The Shelter Attendant will assist the
Shelter Manager in the process of Euthanasia and treatment for animals.

Minimum Requirements

 High School graduate or GED equivalent or experience
 Basic computer & office machine skills
 NC driver’s license
 General knowledge of animal handling & care
